Date Palm Research Center’s Emergence

The Date Palm Research Center (DPRC) at King Faisal University was established in1402H (1983). This was the embodiment of the importance of palm in Saudi Arabia, which is considered one of the major producers of dates. In Muharram 1428H, the Center was awarded the status of Research Center of Excellence as one of the financially supported research centers by the Ministry of Higher Education, in 1428 (2007) the center became Center of Excellence.

 

Objectives of DPRC are achieved through following main pillars: basic and applied research, holding symposia specialized in date palm, training, and community service, in addition to various scientific and technical activities associated with these pillars.

 

DPRC holds good reputation at the local and regional levels through actively participating in the majority of conferences, symposia, workshops and scientific meetings of local and international concerned with date palm.
